This show is a mixed selection o big bands, small groups and singers. We cover the period with recordings from 1927 to 1962 from the US and the UK. Listen for a beautiful duet from 1962, the voice of Doris Day and the piano of Andre Previn. British bands from the early days led by Jack Payne and Jack Hylton are featured, and we hear the classic tune "Sidewalks of New York" from the fabulous Duke Elliington orchestra in 1941. Marion Morgan joins us in a delightful combination with the orchestra of Harry James from 1947, and we conclude with the band led by Erskine Hawkins in their brilliant recording of his own composition "Tuxedo Junction"!
